 Why Choose Turcotte

I have had the opportunity to coach at all levels of hockey from mites to pro hockey and one aspect of the game that really needs a lot of attention and development is  "Stickhandling Skills".  I have developed a unique program that addresses this particular need and it has been very successful for over 40 years. Many of our graduates are excelling in the N.H.L. and at the college level.  Our staff has been well trained to work with each student and to make sure that he/she develops to his/her full potential.

Here are 8 other reasons why you should attend the Turcotte Stickhandling Hockey School.

  1. You will learn to feel and control the puck or your stick without looking at it. This will allow you to see the ice, analyze the situation in order to make better decisions. Just that skill will really improve your game.
  2. You will learn to make fakes and moves (24 different moves) to go around and beat the opponents.
  3. You will learn to open up passing lanes and increase scoring opportunities for you and your linemates.
  4. You will create more space and buy more time for yourself in order to make a play.
  5. Your confidence level with the puck will increase dramatically.
  6. You will automatically improve your passing and pass receiving skills.
  7. You will become a better team player and raise the level of play of your teammates.
  8. Most important, you will enjoy the game more and have much more fun playing it.

We hope to see you at one of our locations and I know you will enjoy and benefit from the experience.  I guarantee it.

The importance of Stickhandling Rocco Grimaldi(Turcotte Hockey School)

Rocco GrimaldiRocco Grimaldi is rated 6 overall in the 2011 NHL  draft.

Testimonial from Rocco Grimaldi:

Turcotte Stickhandling has been a big part of my game since I started hockey at 4 years old.  I attended my first Turcotte Stickhandling Clinic in Westminster, California and continued attending them every Monday night from the time I was 4 until I moved to Michigan when I was 12 years old.

Two of the most important aspects of a hockey game are skating and puck control, and Turcotte Stickhandling taught me nearly everything I know today and helped me to become consistent in both of these areas.  Performing and repeating the drills every Monday night helped with muscle memory, my consistency, and became a natural part of my game.  As I improved with the moves and drills, I also became more confident and began trying different things that I had learned during games.  Pretty soon, I was able to use the different moves in games and shoot outs.

In fact, my family and I believe in Turcotte Stickhandling so much that when we moved to Michigan, we contacted Real Turcotte to help us to find a Turcotte instructor in our area.  We were very blessed to have found Michael Nodler, who had worked for Turcotte Stickhandling for over 15 years.  For the next 3 years, we ran stickhandling clinics out of the Detroit State Fairgrounds Hockeytown Arena so that I could continue working on stickhandling skills and so that kids of all ages from all over Michigan could gain the same benefits that I had.

Not only did the drills help my stickhandling, but they greatly improved my overall skating, improved my puck possession, puck control, confidence with the puck, strength on the puck, especially along the boards, and my shooting and overall creativity with the puck during games.

Mark Messier attended the famous Quebec International Pee Wee tournament as the coach of the Pee Wee team representing the New York Rangers.

The Tournament Committee organized a ‘'Skills Clinic'' for a group of 9 and 10 years old and Mark Messier, Jeff Turcotte and a couple of local coaches ran the Skills Clinic for the benefit of the young hockey players and their parents.

Mark Messier, who really encourages skills development at the youth level, stayed around to sign autographs and charmed the whole crowd.

What a wonderful experience for those kids and their parents.

This is the picture of Mark Messier, Real Turcotte and Jeff Turcotte taken after the skills clinic in Quebec.
